Emergency Services Training...
From the very start of EARS our goal was to provide assistance not only to pet owners and veterinary hospitals, but also to existing emergency services when it comes to animal situations ranging from house fires, to medical emergencies, to evacuations. Over the years we’ve strengthened our partnership with departments throughout the state, and are proud to work alongside them at scenes as well as being a resource they can provide to the community in times of need. As departments have learned about our organization and our capabilities we have received many requests to provide presentations and training covering aspects they face regularly including the use of pet oxygen mask, basic knowledge for working with animals, all the way to response for large animals and technical rescue situations. Whether it is simple multimedia presentations, “drill night” training, or full-scale animal response courses, we are happy to provide these outreach opportunities and have had great feedback from all involved.
Some of the topics that we are frequently asked to cover with emergency services include:
We travel throughout Connecticut offering these programs at no cost to departments and personnel, and have conducted training for groups of 10 – 50 or more. It is our goal to provide useful information through presentations and demonstrations, but also to encourage department personnel to get hands-on whether it is with our “dummy animals” or a situation where we work with live trained demo animals. During these programs we also give information on the resources and capabilities EARS has to assist first responders, the ways in which our team are requested, dispatched, and operate on scene, and more. Below you’ll find a few photos from past trainings, and please feel free to contact Jon Nowinski, EARS Operations Director, at jon@earsct.org or directly at (203) 247 – 0310 for more information.
